15-minute full coverage makeup routine (for a busy mom)

15-minute full coverage makeup routine (for a busy mom)

Do you notice yourself going days without wearing makeup, simply because you’re so busy, exhausted, and couldn’t possibly muster up the motivation to use your precious energy on applying MAKEUP?!

To be honest, when I’m tired and overwhelmed are the times I need to make up the most! It allows me to feel like an actual human that is confident and able to take on the day!

To make this possible, I have fine-tuned my everyday makeup routine to be
completely finished in 10-15 minutes!

Spending that extra 10-15 minutes putting myself together in the mornings really does help me to be more productive, motivated and feel better about myself overall.

I know you can always throw on some tinted moisturizer and mascara and be done almost instantly with minimal products, but this 10-15 minute makeup routine is actual full coverage!

Let’s cover those dark circles, redness, discoloration and trick the world into thinking you’re well-rested, young and glowing! 🙂

Background on my skin type: I have rosacea and extremely sensitive skin. I am very picky about every single ingredient in each product that ever touches my face. It has taken years of research and trial-and-error to find skincare/makeup routines that don’t irritate my skin. I have combination skin that is overall slightly dry but gets oily in the t-zone area.

Here are the products I use:

1). Primer

I love a pore filling primer for my t-zone area where my pores are more visible. This is also where I tend to get oily and my primer helps keep oils at bay as well!

I use the Clinique Superprimer Color Corrector for Redness

2). Foundation

I’m big on combining foundations. I love certain elements with different products, so combining them together gives me the best of both worlds!

Also, it can be hard to find your exact shade so combining a lighter shade with a darker shade or a shade that is too pink with a shade that has some yellow tones to balance it out is really helpful.

My go-to foundations are the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow, L’Oréal Infallible Pro-Matte, Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless and the NARS Radiant Longwear Foundation.

3). Concealer

I don’t worry AS MUCH about the ingredients in my under eye concealer, because my under eye skin is less sensitive than the rest of my skin and can tolerate a wider range of ingredients.

This allows me to use the fullest coverage possible that doesn’t crease or dry out my under eyes!

I use a shade or two lighter than my skin tone to achieve that slightly brightening effect that goes a long way in covering dark circles and making you appear more fresh and awake!

I use the Tarte Shape Tape in shade fair neutral

-A great and affordable alternative is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser. It’s not as full coverage, but still works great!

4). Setting powder

I don’t always use this, but it does help things stay in place a bit longer and keep oils under control. When my face is feeling extra dry I usually skip this step.

I like the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

5). Eyebrows

Having blonde hair makes it extremely difficult to find a shade that isn’t too orange or too dark for my skin tone.

I managed to find the absolute BEST formula that looks so natural, stays in place and just so happens to be my exact perfect shade! Holy grail product right here.

Total game changer!

It’s the Benefit Ka-Brow cream-gel brow color in shade 1

6). Bronzer

Being fair-skinned, it can be difficult to find a shade that doesn’t look either orange or super muddy. This bronzer is pretty affordable, lasts forever and is the perfect shade!

I use the Sephora Bronzing Powder in shade Los Cabos

7). Mascara

This mascara is amazing!!! It has never once clumped on me, stays on all day and is easy to remove!

It has been dubbed the drug-store dupe for the famous Better Than Sex mascara that everyone swears by.

This product is just as good (if not better) and a fraction of the cost! Doesn’t get much better than that!

It’s the L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise

8). Beauty sponge

This might be the reason all of these steps are able to be done so quickly.

Not only does it blend your makeup out extremely well, prevent the build-up of excess makeup and give you a flawless full-coverage application, it also speeds up the process tremendously!

I use it to apply my foundation, concealer, and setting powder! Also, on the days I’m feeling frisky and want to apply a highlighter, I apply it with a beauty sponge as well.

This prevents streaking and gives it a natural finish.

Any beauty sponge will work, but my favorite is the Ecotools Total Perfecting Blender. In my opinion, it works just as good as the Beauty Blender at a fraction of the cost.

Some days, I want to add a few more products when I want more of a glam look that is still quick and easy. I only do this when the mood strikes and I have some extra time and energy.

I add a little to the high points of my cheeks, Cupid’s bow, bridge of the nose and inner corner of the eye. My favorite is the Becca Cosmetics Champagne Pop highlighter

I always stick to a nude lip and avoid lip liner at all costs. My two favorite products that are quick and easy to apply without needing lip liner are either the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in the shade Pure Hollywood or the M.A.C. Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in the shade Honey Love

This is a step that can really get out of hand timewise. Once I start, I can’t stop. Once I bust out my eyeshadow pallets, it’s all over.

I usually skip this step altogether, but on days when I really want some color but still need to keep it quick, I use my bronzer in my crease and call it a day.

And that’s a wrap!!! Those are all of my tips and tricks for a tired mom’s 15-minute makeup routine! Start your day off really right and give yourself that boost of confidence you deserve to tackle your busy day!
